WHAT?

The 31st Annual Family Festival celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

 

WHO?

  • All student participants -- with special recognition being given to participating schools and educators!

    • Prize Winners of the 2016 Essay, Poetry & Art Contests, who will present their winning selections.

      • Special guest entertainers and speakers, including actor/director Geoffrey Owens ("Elvin" from The Cosby Show) and the nationally recognized Ifetayo Youth Ensemble.

        • Every contest participant will receive a T-Shirt and a Certificate!

          • Every child in attendance will receive a FREE educational gift!

            • Every family in attendance will be eligible for a FREE raffle gift!

 

WHY?

  • Because we need to stay focused on empowerment through loving and peaceful struggle now more than ever.

  • Because our young people have things to say about our world and Dr. King's legacy; nearly 500 students submitted essays, poems and works of art for review by our judges!

 

WHEN?

  • MONDAY, JANUARY 18th, 2016.

  • Cash awards will be presented to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Winners at the Family Celebration.  Mark your calendars now!

  • Prize Winners should arrive at Prospect Heights by 11:45 am to rehearse your presentation and to pick up your T-Shirts and Certificates.  

  • All other participants should arrive at Prospect Heights by 12:15 pm to pick up T-Shirts and Certificates.

  • Doors open to the general public at 12:45 pm.

 

WHERE?

  • PROSPECT HEIGHTS HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS, 883 CLASSON AVENUE @ UNION STREET, BROOKLYN 

  • Easy to reach by public transportation!  (2/3 to Eastern Parkway/Brooklyn Museum; 2/3/4/5 to Franklin Avenue; Franklin Avenue Shuttle to Botanic Garden; various bus lines)
